More exciting trips are coming up. Hope all of you are ready! In Cottage Weekend (http://www.facebook.com/events/225659424181806/), we would have an international dinner, barbeque, and dance around the bonfire together. What’s more? Nothing can be more pleasant compared with having Finnish Sauna in the cold winter. You may want to take some food (some sausages for bonfire barbeque) and drinks with you and also remember to take your material for preparing your local cuisine.  It’s also very important that you should bring your own sleeping bags and some warm clothes in case that the night in the woods is too cold.

Each year the trip to Lapland (http://www.facebook.com/events/345152075502755/) gets the best feedback from exchange students and the reward of favorite and the most impressive activity during their exchange time in Finland.  You definitely don’t want to lose the chance of stepping on the Arctic Circle and visiting Santa Claus. Remember to collect your friends’ and families’ addresses so that you can send out postcards from Rovaniemi with Santa’s special stamps on them.  Lots of other amazing experiences like Husky Ride, Kemi snow castle exhibition and skiing in Levi can’t be missed!

Less than 35 tickets left for Cottage Weekend and less than 60 spots available in Lapland trip,  so, be there early!

Tickets sales are during the lunch break from 11:30 to 12:15 and afternoon break 13:45 to 14:15. For those who have reserved the overalls, you can pick up your overalls from the ticket sale point during that time as well.

Hello dearest exchange students!

This spring we have a record number of 107 incoming exchange students! We want to give you all a big welcome, and we are more than happy to help you have the most memorable experience during your exchange period.

Some of you might have been chilled a bit by the Finnish winter coldness or culture shock. Remember, you aren’t alone. Your KY International Subcommittee has planned a great number of exciting parties, cultural activities, and excursions for you! Believe us, you don’t want to miss any of them.

We will give a prolific introduction to all the events tomorrow in the KY-Sub Welcoming Evening (http://www.facebook.com/events/276402235746977/). I know you can’t wait, so maybe I can leak out some amazing ones. The first step of “do as Finns do” is going to the Cottage Weekend (http://www.facebook.com/events/225659424181806/) where you can experience the traditional Finnish sauna and peaceful time in the forest. After that are trips to Lapland, Russia, and Stockholm. Meanwhile more activities and parties are waiting for you. Your calendars’ will be fully booked!

The first ticket sale to the Cottage Weekend will be during tomorrow’s Welcoming Evening. Get ready for a good spot in the queue!

Are you interested in organising activities in an english speaking environment in KY? Want to make friends from all around the world and get new experiences? If the answer is yes, read on.

KY-Sub or KY-International Subcommittee is the international committee of KY’s cultural sector. Differing from iCO which concentrates more on international degree students, KY Sub’s main purpose is to organize different kinds of events and trips for the exchange students who come to our school – you can experience a student exchange here in Helsinki with the exchangers. However, the aim is also to have fun events for all KY members e.g. mid-term week exam parties and other events.

Sub’s annual meeting is held on the 8th of December at 6 pm in KY Upstairs Marskin kabinetti (go to the corridor in the 3rd floor and read the signs so you’ll find it). The next board will be chosen there but it is also a good place to get to know Sub if you are anyhow interested!

Now is the chance to wear your afro, your pants that are just too wide and do all the amazing dance moves you’ve always wanted to! And you get an overall badge!

Disco balls will light up the night and we will make sure all the colours of the rainbow are there too. And of course our friends The Bee Gees and The Village People + all the regular club music, not to worry

What a rainy day outside. This makes me so thankful that our Cottage trip had such good weather!!! A week ago Ky-Sub went with our around 100 exchange students to have a nice weekend at a Cottage. The trip was really cool! We crammed a huge amount of exchange students, kysub people and tutors into the same cottage and had a blast. Finnolympics with different games and funny missions. International Dinner with amazingly good food. Fireplaces and hot saunas, with cold and relaxing night swims in the lake. And most of all, a lot of chilling out and hanging out and enjoying each others company. Thanks everyone for a really good time!

The St. Petersburg info evening came and went and now more information has been sent out to all exchange students. If you guys are still hesitating whether to go or not. Then I’ll make it easy for you. Go! Out of experience I can definitely say that it is a trip to remember…
